Standard Mental Health First Aid Course

The Standard Mental Health First Aid Course is a licensed evidence-based programme, where participants will learn the signs and symptoms of mental health problems, where and how to get help and what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective.

Topics Covered
•    Understanding various common mental health problems, in particular:
•    Depression
•    Anxiety
•    Psychosis
•    Suicide and non-suicidal injury

Providing first aid to people experiencing these problems, specifically on:
•    How to approach and communicate with an affected person in an appropriate way
•    Knowing where and how to seek professional help

Course Format
This course can be delivered as a 2-day course or customised in 3-hour modular segments on days / time based on requirements. Course can be held on-site or virtually.

Accreditation
Become a certified Mental Health First Aider by completing the course with full attendance and an accreditation assessment. Participants get a Standard MHFA Manual and 4 CPD hours (approved by the Malaysian Board of Counsellors).

Adolescent Mental Health First Aid Course

The Adolescent Mental Health First Aid Course is a licensed evidence-based programme, teaching adults how to assist adolescents who are developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis.

Topics Covered
•    Understanding various common mental health problems, in particular:
•    Depression
•    Anxiety
•    Substance use problems
•    Eating disorders
•    Suicide and non-suicidal injury

Course participants will learn about:
•    Adolescent development
•    The signs and symptoms of the common and disabling mental health problems
•    Where and how to get professional help, and what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective

Course Format
This is a 14-hour course, which is delivered as a 2-day training package (7 hours per day). Participants will receive an Adolescent MHFA manual to keep and a Certificate of Completion. 

Who can attend?
Any adult working or living with adolescents can attend. This course is particularly suitable for parents, teachers, sports coaches, and youth workers.

Accreditation
Become a certified Mental Health First Aider by completing the course with full attendance and an accreditation assessment. This course is approved for 4 CPD hour by the Malaysian Board of Counsellors.

MHFA Engaging Leaders

Engaging Leaders Course will help leaders, decision makers and influencers understand the benefits that Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) can offer in helping to create mentally healthy workplaces.

This course is exclusively for companies or organisations.
Topics Covered
•    Why supporting the mental health of employees is important.
•    Benefits of MHFA for their workspace.
•    How to recognize the signs in an employee who may be developing a mental health problem.

Course Format
This course is a 90-minute session. Course can be held on-site or virtually.

Who can attend?
The course is best suited to leaders, decision makers, and influencers within organisations.

Connect MHFA

Connect MHFA is designed for Mental Health First Aider that has completed the MHFA training. 

The connect group offers a safe place where participants can get information that’s practical, constructive, and helpful. 

Only for groups of 15 to 25 participants.
Group Format
This is a 1-hour session. Connect MHFA can be held on-site or virtually.

Who can attend?
Accredited Mental Health First Aider.

MHFA Refresher Course

MHFA Refresher Course is designed for Mental Health First Aiders that have completed the MHFA training within the last three years.

These courses enable accredited MHFAiders to revise their knowledge and skills, and to extend their accreditation for another 3 years.
Course Format
This is a half-day session. Course can be held on-site or virtually.

Who can attend?
Mental Health First Aiders that have completed the MHFA training within the last three years.

Up to 10 pax per group (Virtual)

MHFA Instructor Course

Mental Health First Aid Instructor Training (Training of Trainers) is for selected candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria. The 5-day course requires participants to demonstrate their understanding of the topics and practice their presentation skills on segments of the sessions allocated.

Participants who pass the Assessment Test at the end of the course, and successfully conducted one MHFA course under supervision, will be certified as Accredited MHFA Instructor. This is for a period of 4 years, after which they have to undergo Refresher Training to be recertified.
