Family – to – Family Education Programme
During the year, courses are conducted by family members to train other family members in mental illness and equip them with various skills to care for their loved ones and themselves.

Public Forums, Workshop and Seminars are organised from time to time to create better awareness of mental illness and mental health issues of interest to the public or a certain segment of the population. In the past, the Association has touched on issues like Understanding Mental Illness, Schizophrenia, Caring for a Mentally Ill Relative, TV Violence, Parenting Skills, Teenage Pregnancy, Stress Management, Drug Addiction etc.

Representations are made to related government agencies like the Ministry of Health and the Department of Social Welfare to advocate for the rights of the mentally ill and for better services to be provided. The association is currently involved in dialogues with the Ministry of Health to review the Mental Health Policy 1998.

Dissemination of information to public on how to maintain good mental health, how to recognise the early signs of mental health problems, the nature of different types of mental health problems, where to get help and the different type of treatment available in Malaysia.
